JOURNEYS OF THE SOUL AND ITINERARIES IN SPIRIT
JOURNEYS OF THE SOUL AND ITINERARIES IN SPIRIT – An intercultural ethnological approach Interdisciplinary event organized by the Fondation culturelle Musée Barbier-Mueller, IPAG Business School, Paris and ARCH (Association pour le rayonnement des cultures himalayennes)
The concept of the soul has been central to spiritual beliefs and practices since antiquity. Its definition varies from culture to culture, with some considering several souls per individual or their association with the vital breath. The rituals associated with soul travel, whether shamanic journeys, metempsychosis or mystical experiences, reflect universal concerns. The soul plays a key social and spiritual role, particularly in funeral and healing rites. This study day aims to analyze these practices through a comparative and ethnological approach.
